Newsflash! WT is banning the following Internet avatars for being too flirty and causing immoral thoughts:
in today's wt study it makes the point that just glancing at the opposite sex is flirting and can lead to sex!.
so are jw's now to wear blinkers?.
also jw's are told to go and confess to the elders if they have any immoral thoughts?!!.
Newsflash! WT is banning the following Internet avatars for being too flirty and causing immoral thoughts:
lunacy?
insanity?
without a doubt.
I listened to Jackson, and others before him, talk about family headship this and family headship that, as though family headship presented some supposed biblical principle making it wrong for elders to report child molestation to authorities. But I never heard one articulate why this was the case.
It creeped me out when they used the scripture, "each one must carry his own load." So a child has been abused and the "responsible parent" is a mind-controlled wreck, unwill/unable to report this crime to the police. This turns into a terrible load for a child to bear. Why did they neglect the scripture that says to help bear the burdens of one another?
Their picking and choosing of verses makes people disgusted at JWs. It will also make them disgusted at the bible.
lunacy?
insanity?
without a doubt.
And he said elders couldn't report it scripturally because the bible says that the family is so highly respected and it's their private family business to decide whether or not to report this crime to the police. The elders can't possibly interfere with what goes on inside the home and what decisions the family makes.
Yeah, this bullsh!t from an organization that has "bedroom laws" regarding a couples sexual activities.
geoffrey jackson's unfailingly diplomatic responses during friday's royal commission hearings have undoubtedly limited damage to the reputation of the jw organization - but i could never again imagine the watchtower and awake!
magazines criticizing other religions over their responses to child sexual abuse within their parishes.
too close for comfort.
Jackson suggested the possibility that the GB might consider redress if the scriptures allow such a thing. And he's pretending to be some kind of bible and linguistic scholar?
It's pretty obvious in Jesus parable of the good Samaritan that the right thing to do was to rescue the victim and provide financial support paid to the innkeeper for the care of the victim. I'm confident that WT will instead walk around the victim on the other side of the road and continue on their way telling themselves, "I'm a priest on my way to the temple. Taking care of such victims is the responsibility of someone else like the local innkeeper. I haven't seen any law explicitly requiring me to help someone that has been beaten and robbed."
so we've heard from three different governing body members this year regarding child sexual abuse.. the latest one on the rc admitted there's a sexual abuse problem within the cult, yet lett and morris swept the dirt under the carpet stating they have a great reputation as far as sex abuse is concerned, and pointed their fingers at "apostate lies".
.
i'm left totally confused at the contradiction of this "organization"..
Angus: "Mr. Jackson, wouldn't you say that elders are receiving contradicting instructions between what is stated in their manual and the testimony given to this commission."
Geoff: "Not at all. I would say that any contradictions are because the government needs to write explicit laws telling the JW elders to call the police. The law needs to list every name of every elder that is obligated to call and list every possible action of an offender that would be considered "abuse". Otherwise, it's in the bible that elders cannot protect children from abuse unless two people have seen the abuse occur. So any confusion is YOUR fault."
hey all,.
have you seen the new video on http://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/activities/living-bible-principles/adult-survivor-child-abuse-video/ ?.
isn't this too much of a coincidence?
since geoffrey jackson's appearance before the australian royal commission on friday there has for some been an expressed feeling of anticlimax.
it is as though he was given too much latitude to preach, to claim ignorance and to skirt questions.
more to the point, as much as i myself thought i would never have expected to say this, gj actually came across as likeable and - don't throttle me please!
The Bible itself is just a book of stories. It was the people behind the compilation that had the agenda.
And now we have the people behind the interpretation of the compiled book of Jewish stories that has an agenda. And their primary agenda is that the womenfolk shouldn't be jumping up and arguing with the men. Instead, women should be in the kitchen quietly making sandwiches for the menfolk.

It's interesting that, as noted in other threads, JWs have watched this and thought GJ "gave a great witness". In my opinion, GJ did well enough that at least the sheeples are willing to watch it and not dismiss it as "apostate propaganda". I'm also of the opinion that GJ presented enough statements as a GB member to muddy the waters on some WT teachings and practices where he presented half-truths.
Last but not least, he clearly stated that this is a serious problem in WT that needs governmental laws to force them to do the right thing.
i am fuming at the moment and my wife has made me so angry.. i live in germany and an ex jw, a friend of mine is also ex jw but does not understand english so i was giving him a rundown on the friday session of the rc with gj.
my wife was in another part of the house but heard my phone ring and so she came to listen, i did not realize this, because when the phone rang i closed two doors between myself and my wife.
she opened the first door and started listening to the conversation.
I think your experience here is worth documenting and sending to the RC. I appreciate that McClellan would think that adding women to the judicial process might make it more just and effective. However, this example shows how women in the organization can be just as fanatical about oppressing others to silence anything that might put the JWs in a negative light.
Have you recorded any of these exchanges with your wife? I think it would be most interesting if you would be able to completely document this situation where you come under fire from the congregation and are divorced from your wife because you think that children need to be protected from sexual abuse, but they do not.
okay, i know the royal commission hasn't started yet.
but i'm confident enough that he will be telling some whoppers.
so i thought i'd be the first to get a thread started for something that will begin... very soon now!.
I wonder if Angus will point out that WT has disfellowshipped people like Barbara for pointing out the flaws of WT policy.
Turn. Now Angus has pointed out that WT calls the need for correction to be apostate lies.
Jacko is trying to talk his way out of a corner.
Edit to add: Strangely, this post just suddenly appeared on this thread, although I had written it last night during the live broadcast. But it never appeared on the thread last night. Now it's reappeared like magic. Must be the work of demunz!
